About

Our numbers, not the books'

Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect a margin. We set ours to be right.

  1. 1
    Project it ourselves

We model every game from scratch — before we look at a single sportsbook line.

  2. 2
    Convert to a fair line

    A 60% win probability is a fair -150. A 40% shot is +150. That's our number.

  3. 3
    Compare to the book

Only when the book's price is meaningfully off our fair line do we call a play.

p ≥ 50%: line = −100·p / (1−p)
p < 50%: line = +100·(1−p) / p

Verdicts

We LikeBig gap between our number and theirs. Our strongest call.
LeanReal edge, smaller margin.
ContrarianWe like the side the public hates — and the price pays for it.
TrapLooks easy. The price says otherwise. Stay away.
NO PLAYBook's line is basically ours. No edge, no bet.
Responsible gambling

Not The Books is for entertainment purposes only. We are not a sportsbook and do not accept wagers. No pick is a guarantee. Only bet what you can afford to lose, and only where legal (21+ in most states). If gambling stops being fun, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER.
